Established in 2021, Mission Renewable is run by a unique mix of professionals with a shared passion for helping service leavers, veterans, military spouses, and reservists to access new employment pathways within the renewables sector.

Lieutenant General (Retd) Richard Nugee CB CVO CBE, Chair

General Richard Nugee was commissioned into the British Army in 1986. He completed operational tours of Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Cyprus and Afghanistan. He also specialised in personnel (HR) roles culminating in Chief of Defence People. He spent his final year writing a Review of Defence's approach to Climate Change and Sustainability, and is now the Non Executive Director for Climate Change for Defence.

He is Chair of the Royal NAAFI Board, Director of his own Strategic Advisory Company, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and is Patron, Chair and Trustee of a number of organisations. 


James Cameron, Chief Executive Officer

James joined the Army in 1995, serving 17 years including five operational tours in the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan, latterly commanding the Armoured Group in 2010-2011 for which he was mentioned in Dispatches. He founded the Forces' Motorsport Charity while serving in 2012. The charity, in partnership with the Royal Foundation, delivers the award winning ‘Mission Automotive’ initiative – the UK Automotive industry’s Armed Forces Engagement initiative. In 2021 he led the team that developed Mission Renewable, a new Armed Forces Engagement Programme to the Renewable Industry.


Marcus Peters, Cosultant

Marcus Peters is an internationally recognised leader in health, safety, and environmental transformation, known for reshaping cultures and elevating safety across some of the world’s most complex, high-risk industries. With over three decades of leadership experience across renewable energy, offshore, construction, and engineering sectors he is a well-known figure globally for his passion and dedication to Renewable Energy as well as safety. A Chartered Fellow of both IOSH and the Energy Institute, Marcus is renowned for his ability to drive transformative cultural change, embed behavioural safety, and lead high-performing, diverse teams in complex, high-risk environments

Now leading his own consultancy, Greensforge Performance Solutions Ltd, Marcus partners with organisations to embed sustainable, human-centred HSE practices from concept to decommissioning. He continues to influence industry standards through roles with G+, IMCA, and OWIC, and remains a dedicated employment mentor to military veterans and service leavers through the Royal Marines Charity, White Ensign Association and Mission Renewable.



Ed Tilston, Commercial Consultant

Ed joined us from the automotive industry where he spent 18 years in various marketing and commercial roles at Jaguar Land Rover. Ed’s enduring passion for armed forces engagement came from sponsoring a number of activities, most notably the inaugural Invictus Games in 2014, and from seeing first-hand the mutual advantage to both business and veterans of re-employing those who have served.
